Patient Outcomes and Statistics

At Maimonides, we are dedicated to providing the highest level of patient care. We measure quality with respect to clinical outcomes, such as mortality, infection rates and safety, and the patient experience – staff interaction, communication and cleanliness. Nationwide core measures are used as indicators of how well a particular hospital is doing on treating their patients by the recommended guidelines.

The improvement areas we are focusing on are:
  • To further reduce the time to percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). PCI is a procedure that is often the most effective method for opening blocked blood vessels that cause heart attacks.
  • Enhance rapid intervention (within 90 minutes) from the time the patient arrives in the Emergency Room until treatment. Time is essential for patients who present with a heart attack.

The improvement areas we are focusing on are:
  • Assure that CHF patients receive education and discharge instructions regarding diet, activity level, medications, follow up appointments, daily weight measurements, and signs and symptoms.
  • Assure that drugs categorized as ACE-I (angiotensin converting enzyme) and ARBS (angiotensin receptor blockers) are prescribed. These drugs reduce the action of a hormone that can narrow blood vessels. This helps reduce the pressure in the heart and lower blood pressure.
