Dr. Gregory Crooke is a Cardiac Surgeon in the Surgery Department, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Crooke has more than 18 years of medical experience. He completed his residency at North Western University and his fellowship at NYU Tisch Hospital. Early in his career, Dr. Crooke served as a Major in the United States Air Force where he was an Attending Cardiothoracic Surgeon. He joined Maimonides after 7 years as a cardiothoracic surgeon at NYU Medical Center. In addition to cardiac surgery, Dr. Crooke is the Director of the ICU Consortium at Maimonides and oversees all of adult critical care. Previously he was the Clinical Service Chief of Cardiac Surgery at New York University Medical Center, and sat on the NYU Medical Board. He served as the Director of the Ventricular Assist Device Program and the Director the Surgical Heart Failure Program. Prior to that, he was the associate director of the Cardiac Transplantation and Ventricular Assist Device Program at the Montefiore Medical Center/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, a program which he helped start, and the Director of Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore. Dr. Crooke was also the Medical Director of the Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant Program.

Dr. Gregory Crooke has published and presented extensively throughout his career both nationally and internationally. He was a participating surgeon in the ROOBY (Randomized On/Off BYpass) trial which was published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 2009. His current research interests include the pathogenesis and treatment of ischemic mitral regurgitation, surgery for congestive heart failure, and high risk valve procedures. Dr. Crooke’s academic appointments include Assistant Professor of Cardiac Surgery at both NYU School of Medicine and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He also holds the appointment of Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Einstein. Dr. Cooke has numerous professional affiliations. He is a member of the Southern Thoracic Surgical Association, the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, the NY Society of Thoracic Surgery, and the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and the American Academy of Pediatrics. |
