Diagnostic Tests are the first Step in the Process
A range of tests may be performed to determine the extent or nature of your heart disease. All test results are stored digitally, providing outstanding image quality and allowing physicians to view them immediately. We also have a separate Pediatric echocardigram lab, designed specifically for children and their parents.
Diagnostic Imaging Technology
Such advanced technology includes the use of the latest-generation CT scanners that enable physicians to perform angiography of every part of the body, including the coronary arteries. Improved CT technology has allowed data to be captured more quickly, while still limiting radiation exposure and improving image quality. The newest scanner at Maimonides has two X-ray tubes that work together in such a way as to capture data more quickly and at higher resolution. This is especially beneficial for viewing parts of the body that move, such as the heart.
Intraoperative Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
Another invaluable technology is the use of the intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), which allows cardiac anesthesiologists to evaluate the functioning of the different parts of the heart. This evaluation includes specific heart valve function before and after valve repairs or replacements, as well as the overall heart function after bypass procedures.
