Thanks for sharing Richard - glad you've had a great experience and have found ways to keep strong.

I am 55 years of age now had my knee replaced at 43. it has been working great ever since. I continue to workout and bodybuild on it. I keep my squats light along with the leg press. I am a big proponent of keeping the muscles strong around the prosthesis to get the most mileage oout of it. I suspect sometime in another few years a revision is coming.

I've heard of several ways to prevent having a second knee surgery but unfortunately, sometimes it still needs to happen. My grandfather underwent surgery twice for a total knee replacement. The first one had an expiration date that did go when it said it would and although we tried non-surgical solutions for awhile, it just didn't get rid of the pain. If you're concerned about what the cost might be for a second surgery I did find this really great calculator that estimates your bill based on your area. You can even customize it to pre-exisiting conditions like your first surgery, age and even your insurance. Compared with our own bill, I found it to be very close so I know it truly works the way I need it too and it really helped figure out our second bill. I hope it helps you too. I hope you don't need to use it but just in case, good luck dear!
