Dr. Barbara Paris, Director of Geriatrics at Maimonides Medical Center, recently was a guest on NBC's "The Today Show." The topic discussed was depression in the elderly. Dr. Paris pointed out that depression is NOT a normal part of aging and that there are many ways it can be treated. She also emphasized that socializing and exercising can help prevent and/or alleviate depression.
