Maimonides Enhances Progressive Cardiac Care Unit
(Brooklyn, New York - February 2010)
The Maimonides Cardiac Institute recently updated its Progressive Coronary Care Unit to further enhance patient care. The 54-bed unit allows for all levels of monitoring as patients recover from cardiac events and/or procedures, and accommodates both cardiology and cardiothoracic surgery patients.

Located on the second floor of the Gellman Pavilion, the Progressive Coronary Care Unit is adjacent to the Advanced Cardiac Care Unit of the Kronish Pavilion, bringing continuity of care, as well as convenience, to patients and clinicians. This is only the latest of countless innovations that have made Maimonides the standard of care for cardiac services.
"We have assembled the finest team of clinicians at the Maimonides Cardiac Institute," explains Dr. Jacob Shani, Chair of the Institute. "And our doctors and nurses use the most advanced technology to ensure that we remain leaders in battling heart disease on behalf of our patients."
The cardiac specialists at Maimonides repeatedly have achieved outstanding ratings from HealthGrades, the nation's leading independent healthcare ratings company. After reviewing patient outcomes and mortality data from over 5,000 hospitals nationwide, HealthGrades publishes its rankings and confers special awards for services that are exemplary.
Maimonides was recognized with a 2010 HealthGrades Cardiac Care Excellence Award, encompassing overall medical and surgical care for cardiac patients. In addition, Maimonides ranked among the top five percent of hospitals in the nation for cardiology services and cardiac interventions, and is a recipient of the 2010 HealthGrades Coronary Intervention Excellence Award. And for the Treatment of Heart Failure, Maimonides has been five-star rated every year that HealthGrades has published its ratings.
