Dr. Steven Pavlakis is the Director of Pediatric Neurology and Development in the Department of Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Pavlakis completed his residency and fellowship at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. Previous to joining the Maimonides team, Dr. Pavlakis held numerous professional appointments in hospitals such as Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center, and North Shore University Hospital. His most recent positions include Attending at New York-Presbyterian and North Shore University hospitals. Dr. Pavlakis was the Director of Pediatric Neurology/Director and Attending Center for the Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology at Beth Israel Medical Center.

Dr. Steven Pavlakis publishes extensively, and throughout the years has spoken at numerous invited lectures. He is active in research and received several grants for his work. His major research interests include Cerebrovascular Disease in Children, Metabolic Disease in Children, Neuroimaging in Children including MR, MRS, and Functional Imaging. Currently, Dr. Pavlakis is Professor of Neurology & Pediatrics, Mount Sinai School of Medicine. He is a member of the Tri-State Child Neurology Society, the International Child Neurology Society, the Child Neurology Society, the American Academy of Neurology, the Association for Research in Nervous and Mental Diseases, the American Assoc. of Electromyography & Electrodiagnosis, and the
American Neurological Association. Dr. Pavlakis has received awards for his commitment, and was honored with the Recognition Award for Biomedical Research Grants by the NYHMA, was elected Active Member by the American Neurological Association, Elected Fellow by American Academy of Neurology, and was given the
Best Doctors in America recognition.
