At Maimonides Medical Center our commitment to excellence in patient care and respect for cultural diversity forms the foundation for our work environment.
We are pleased to provide you with information on jobs and volunteer opportunities. You will find that at the Medical Center there are always options for advancing in your chosen profession or for exploring new career paths. We are proud of the fact that our employees enjoy working here so much so that many of them refer candidates for employment. It is yet another confirmation that Maimonides Medical Center is one of the best places to work.
A career at Maimonides is one major step in advancing your professional growth, increasing job satisfaction, and serving the wonderful people of Brooklyn.
Maimonides has enjoyed sound financial performance at a time when many hospitals have struggled under the pressures of the health care reimbursement environment. This financial stability has allowed us to plan new facilities, recruit new staff, and continue to improve our level of services.
We offer a generous benefits package including medical, dental and life insurance, 403b retirement savings plan and pension plan, long-term disability insurance, tuition assistance, and more.
If you think that all management jobs in health care are alike, think again. We pride ourselves in searching for managers who are as strong in their leadership skills as their technical expertise. The combination of inspiring leadership and technical know-how allows us to bring out the best in our workers and to continue our commitment to service excellence. For example, how many hospitals allow joint hiring of management? We do. We believe that wherever possible, both labor and management should have the opportunity to interview candidates for leadership positions. We want strong, high-performing work teams everywhere in the hospital, and teamwork is critical to achieving that goal.
We also want our management staff to feel supported and valued. Our compensation, benefits and training programs are designed to be competitive for both the recruitment and the retention of management talent. We know that quality management expects challenges and the opportunity to make a difference. Our managers are exposed to a variety of interdepartmental projects and committee work.
When you interview for a management position at the Medical Center, let us know what other interests you have, chances are you may find them at Maimonides.
What matters most to you? If you want flexible work schedules, meaningful work, empowered work teams, enlightened supervision, competitive pay and benefits, and a stable, financially secure employer, Maimonides is the best choice for you.
Please make sure that credentials and references are readily available. We require that all newly hired staff undergo criminal background checks and drug testing.
Interns are a valuable resource, whether for special projects or as potential candidates for future openings. Reaching out to local academic institutions for interns is just one way that we connect with the many communities we serve. Through these internships, we afford students valuable insight into the healthcare environment under structured, well-supervised leadership. Assignments are challenging and the supervisors among the finest professionals in their fields.
Word to Former Employees – Come on Back!
Every year, former employees return to Maimonides Medical Center, and we are pleased to consider them for employment opportunities.
If you are a registered nurse returning to Maimonides, consider this:
If you return within twelve months after leaving there will be no impact on your previously earned seniority. You will be re-instated rather than rehired, which means that your previous time worked counts toward your pension benefits.
If you are a registered nurse on an approved leave of absence and are wondering whether to return to Maimonides, remember that at the end of a leave of absence of more than three months, but no more than six months, for maternity or one single illness, you will be entitled to return to work in your former title, without loss of previously accrued seniority.
Another important benefit that may be helpful to your personal lifestyle needs is the modified part-time nurse program. This benefit allows you to work a part-time schedule, where you work full time for only part of the year, but receive health benefits as if you were full time.
