Division of Residency Education

The Division of Residency Education consists of a dynamic team available to foster the academic growth of all trainees and junior faculty. Spearheading the team in her role as Program Director is Ingrid Walker-Descartes MD, MPH; a fellowship trained academic generalist with subspecialty expertise in Child Abuse. Our Associate Program Director, Jeremiah Cleveland MD, is a graduate of the residency training program at the University of Rochester whose area of expertise is Hospitalist Medicine. As we are a dually accredited program for Allopathic and Osteopathic trainees, the title of the Osteopathic Associate Program Director is donned by Revital Caronia, a former Chief Resident from the 2010-2011 academic year. In addition to 3 pediatric Chief residents, this team is complemented by a seasoned education program coordinator, Ms. Nancy Barriel Disponzio, who comes with a BA in Psychology and over 10 years experience as a program coordinator.

With a diverse team of clinicians and a support staff whose clinical expertise and experiences are aligned with the Children’s Hospital mission of “WE CARE,” our goal is to implement an innovative learner-centered curriculum for residents, medical students and fellows that is rigorous and adheres to the highest standards outlined by ACGME (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education) and COMSEP (Council on Medical Student Education in Pediatrics).
