Welcome to Our Program
The PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency in Emergecy Medicine at Maimonides Medical Center, located in Brooklyn, New York, is one of the few Emergency Medicine Residencies accredited by the American Society of Health System Pharmacists. This residency is designed for Pharmacy Practice Residency trained pharmacists who desire a sub-specialty in Emergency Medicine, leading to certification in Emergency Care Pharmacotherapy. The Emergency Medicine Residency is intended to provide residency trained pharmacists with comprehensive clinical training in the care of acutely ill patients. Residents will be trained to conduct clinically relevant research in an urban community hospital academic environment and become emergency care pharmacotherapy educators, as well as competent and highly skilled emergency medicine clinical pharmacy managers. The goal of the program is to train pharmacists to manage the medication use needs of patients within an Emergency Department by emphasizing the fundamentals and principles of pharmaceutical care and pharmacotherapy.
