Special Features
The Radiology Residency Program provides an intensive educational experience based on the large volume of diverse pathology unique to the Medical Center. Approximately 200,000 procedures are performed each year, with state-of-the-art equipment, including four CT scanners with 16 and 64 multirow detector technology and CT Fluoroscopy, two 1.5 Tesla MR units, five ultrasounds units and three gamma cameras. We utilize three interventional suites (one bi-plane) and eight radiography rooms (three with fluoroscopy). The Division of Breast Imaging at the Maimonides Breast Cancer Center utilizes 3 mammography units including one sterostatic biopsy suite. The department’s PET/CT is based at the Maimonides Cancer Center.
The department functions with an IDX radiology information system in a PACS environment, including teleradiology with voice recognition technology.
Research
Clinical research is encouraged and at least one completed and published project is required during the four-year program. The Research Committee will assign projects as necessary and monitor progress throughout the academic year.
