Dr. Philip Rubin has been on staff in hematology and medical oncology at Maimonides since 1990. He completed both a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology here.
Dr. Rubin treats patients with a wide variety of tumor types and benign blood disorders. He has a special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of blood clotting and the diagnosis and treatment of myeloproliferative disorders, a group of blood formation disorders. Dr. Rubin is currently organizing a program at the Maimonides Cancer Center for the treatment of Gaucher’s Disease, a benign blood disorder that is common in the Jewish community. He also focuses on the treatment of lung cancer and the treatment of cancer in the elderly.
Dr. Rubin serves on the Department of Medicine Performance Improvement Committee and has a long-standing interest in devising processes that enhance patient safety. He was named to the list of America's Top Hematologists/Oncologists in 2007, 2009 and 2010 by the Consumer’s Research Counsel. |
