Dr. Lucy R. Pontrelli is the Director of Pediatric Infectious Disease in the Department of Pediatrics at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  Dr. Pontrelli completed her Pediatric Residency at North Shore University Hospital.  Her residency was followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Disease and a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Division of Pediatric Immunology, both also at North Shore University Hospital.  Prior to joining the Maimonides team, Dr. Pontrelli was the Program Director of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Fellowship at SUNY/Stony Brook Medical Center.

Dr. Lucy R. Pontrelli is active in research and has published numerous articles.  Her academic responsibilities include House Staff lectures and mentoring of residents, and she currently is on the faculty of the Medicine & Contemporary Society II.  She is a member of the Residency Committee, the AAP Section on Infectious Diseases Committee, the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society Fellowship Committee, the Infection Control Committee, the Antibiotic Surveillance Committee, the Ad HOC/Medical Executive Committee and the Internal Review Adult Infectious Disease Committee, which she was previously the Chair.  Dr. Pontrelli is a fellow of the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics, as well as a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America.  She has been the recipient of several honors, and has received the Housestaff Grants Research Program Award, and been awarded Fellow of the Year.
